Margaret Cho

Having started doing stand-up above her parents bookstore at the tender age of 17, Margaret Cho honed her act in various comedy houses until eventually breaking out in 1992 with appearances on A&E's "Evening at the Improv", Fox's "Comic Strip Live" and MTV's "Half-Hour Comedy Special." In 1993 Margaret was the most booked comedian on the college circuit and in 1996 she won The American Comedy Award as "Best Female Stand-Up." In the fall of 1994 Margaret made history as the first Korean-American to star in her own sitcom "All American Girl" and her brilliant HBO comedy special received an Ace Award nomination for Best Comedy Special.
Margaret also appeared in John Woo's major motion picture "Face Off" with John Travolta and Nicholas Cage.
In 1999, her groundbreaking, off Broadway one-woman show, I'm The One That I Want, toured the country to national acclaim and was made into a best-selling book and feature film of the same name. The concert film, which garnered incredible reviews, broke records for most money grossed per print in movie history. In 2001, after the success of her first show, Cho launched Notorious C.H.O., a smash-hit 37-city national tour that culminated in a sold-out concert at Carnegie Hall. Like I'm the One That I Want, Notorious C.H.O. was recorded and released as a feature film, hailed by the New York Times as "Brilliant!"
In March of 2003, Margaret embarked on her third sold-out national tour, Revolution. The tour grossed 4.4M and was heralded as "Her strongest show yet!" by The Chicago Sun Times. The CD of Revolution, released in the fall of 2003, was nominated for a Grammy for best comedy album of the year. Currently Margaret is working on new material for her upcoming national tour.
