Monty Hoffman began performing at The Laugh Factory on Sunset Blvd, where he eventually saw his name appear up on the marquee. "Seeing that really gave me an extra boost of confidence."
After appearing on A&E's An Evening at the Improv, Hoffman returned to New York to do the film "Comedy's Dirtiest Dozen," which led to his signing with Messina-Baker Management in Los Angeles and landed an agent, a development deal with Viacom. From there, Hoffman did a lot of sitcom work and in, between, did standup engagements in Vegas, and comedy clubs and colleges across the country.
In 1994, Hoffman put standup on hold when he landed a leading role on NBC's sitcom, "The Good Life". He followed that up with film work and several appearances on ABC's "The Drew Carey Show" and CBS’s "Everybody Loves Raymond" and in 2004, "Last Comic Standing", which garnered much attention. "It was a pivotal experience for me, not just because it helped re-launch my career, but because it helped me to re-launch who I am. And in the end, I fell back in love with what used to make my mother laugh. It’s true. Does that Does that sound too corny? Let’s cut that last part..."
