Barenaked Ladies

The Barenaked Ladies, hailing from Toronto, are a humorous folk-pop band in the vein of Blues Traveler. Through constant touring and strong word-of-mouth, they've built a loyal underground following throughout North America - especially among college students. And to set the record straight right away, no, they do not get naked, nor are there women in the band -- their moniker was chosen simply to draw attention, not as a sexist statement.
Currently featuring vocalist Steven Page, guitarist Ed Robertson, bassist Jim Creeggan and drummer Tyler Stewart, the Barenaked Ladies first formed around 1989, and released several independent cassette tapes before hitting it big in their homeland with a 1991 self-titled tape, the first independent release to reach the Top 20 and go platinum in Canada.
The surprise success of Barenaked Ladies earned the group an international record deal with Sire/Reprise, which issued their major-label debut, Gordon, in 1992. 1994's Maybe You Should Drive expanded their underground following 1996's Born on a Pirate Ship, spawned the AAA radio single "Brian Wilson," which later received alternative radio play as well. A live album, Rock Spectacle, quickly followed. They are perhaps best known for their feel-good mega-hit, "If I Had a Million Dollars." A greatest-hits collection, Disc One: All Their Greatest Hits (1991-2001), was issued in fall 2001 and celebrated BNL's work and bond as a musical family. Two years later, the band returned with Everything to Everyone. Barenaked Ladies Are Me and the companion album Barenaked Ladies Are Men followed in 2006 and 2007 respectively.
