More! More! More! Billy Idol was one the first rock artists to achieve massive success in the early '80s due to MTV. Mixing his bad-boy looks with an appealing blend of pop hooks, punk attitude, and dance beats, Idol quickly rocketed to stardom. Billy's first brush with fame came when he formed the band Generation X in 1976. The band recorded their 1978 self-titled debut, 1979's Valley of the Dolls, and 1981's Kiss Me Deadly before splitting up. Disappointed with Generation X's demise, Idol relocated to NYC, where he pursued a solo career. Idol issued a successful EP in 1981, Don't Stop (comprised of a cover of Tommy James' hit "Mony Mony" and remixed Generation X tracks). which led to his self-titled debut in July of 1982. A pair of eye-catching videos for "White Wedding" and "Dancing With Myself" scored major air time on MTV, which set the stage for Idol's big breakthrough, 1984's Rebel Yell, which spawned such big-time hits as the album's title track, "Eyes Without a Face," and "Flesh for Fantasy." 1987's Whiplash Smile was another hit on the strength of such hits as "To Be a Lover" and "Sweet Sixteen." Then came 1990's Charmed Life with it's lead-off single, "Cradle of Love." In 1998, Idol made a cameo in the hit Adam Sandler comedy, "The Wedding Singer," and was also soon the subject of a VH1: Behind the Music special. Next up was his first studio album since Cyberpunk, Devil's Playground. More recently, in 2014, Billy released Kings & Queens of the Underground. Billy Idol continues to snarl and rock all around the world. Yes indeed, we want more!
