Train settled in San Francisco to develop their sound in a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere. In an unlikely scenario, executives from Columbia Records farmed the fledgling band out to Aware Records where they could grow unhurriedly. In 1997, they went on tour, opening for Blues Traveler, Barenaked Ladies and Counting Crows. Their debut album was released the following year. Drops of Jupiter followed three years later, becoming a platinum hit. My Private Nation followed in 2003. A holdover live album appeared in 2004 and then the single "Cab" announced the band's return in 2005 and the Top Ten full-length, For Me It's You, followed early the next year. Returning in late 2009, Train delivered three hit singles "Hey, Soul Sister," as well as "If It's Love" and "Marry Me.” In 2012, Train released their sixth studio album, titled California 37. The first single from the album, "Drive By," reached number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was a Top 10 in the UK. In 2016, Train released Train Does Led Zeppelin II. Most recently, Train has re-released their holiday album, Christmas in Tahoe, which brings their signature sound to holiday classics as well as several original songs. In Jan 2017, the band released their 8th studio album, a girl a bottle a boat, which spawned the lead single, “Play That Song,” hitting Top 5 on the iTunes chart, Top 10 at Hot AC radio, and charting at Adult Top 40. Train continues to perform, touring all over the world.
