BIOGRAPHy

Actress, comedian and writer Kate McKinnon is best known for her character work and celebrity impressions on the sketch comedy series The Big Gay Sketch Show (2007–2010) and Saturday Night Live (2012–present).  McKinnon has appeared in films such as Balls Out, Ghostbusters, Office Christmas Party), Rough Night, The Spy Who Dumped Me, Yesterday, and Bombshell). McKinnon has been nominated for eight Primetime Emmy Awards winning in 2016 and 2017. McKinnon has made appearances as a voice actress in series like The Simpsons  and Family Guy, The Angry Birds Movie and Ferdinand. McKinnon is known for her celebrity impressions of Justin Bieber, Ellen DeGeneres, and numerous political figures, including Hillary Clinton, US Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Senator Lindsey Graham, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Kellyanne Conway, Robert Mueller, Angela Merkel and Rudy Giuliani. McKinnon’s return to season 46 officially makes her the show’s longest tenured female cast member, surpassing her cast mates Cecily Strong and Aidy Bryant by five episodes.

Career Path

2007Joined the original cast of Logo TV's 'The Big Gay Sketch Show' and appeared across all three seasons, building her reputation for character-driven comedy and celebrity impressions.
2012Became a featured player and then full cast member on NBC's 'Saturday Night Live', where impressions of Hillary Clinton, Justin Bieber, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg made her the show's breakout performer.
2016Won back-to-back Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2016 and 2017 for her SNL work, and starred as weapons engineer Holtzmann in the 'Ghostbusters' reboot.
2020Surpassed every female cast member in SNL history to become the show's longest-tenured woman, a record built across nearly a decade of playing political figures from Jeff Sessions to Angela Merkel.
2022Departed 'Saturday Night Live' after 11 seasons, leaving as the longest-tenured female cast member in the show's history.
2023Played Weird Barbie in Greta Gerwig's blockbuster 'Barbie' opposite Margot Robbie, a role that reached audiences far beyond her SNL fanbase and became one of the film's most celebrated performances.
2023Hosted the SNL Season 49 Christmas episode with musical guest Billie Eilish, becoming the eighth former female cast member to return as host.
2024'The Millicent Quibb School of Etiquette for Young Ladies of Mad Science' debuted as an instant New York Times bestseller, with McKinnon narrating the audiobook and contributing original character artwork.
2025Appeared in Searchlight Pictures' satirical black comedy 'The Roses', directed by Jay Roach and starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman.
2026Starred in Andrew Stanton's sci-fi drama 'In the Blink of an Eye' on Disney+, departing from her comedic roots to play Coakley, a long-lived woman bound for a distant planet.
