BIOGRAPHy

Yannis Pappas is a stand-up comedian, actor & writer. He’s also a cute kid. Yannis’ 2019 hour stand-up special Blowing the Light produced and directed by Andrew Schulz is available on Youtube. He was the host of NextVR‘s virtual reality live stand-up series, Live In Gotham (44 episodes 2018-19). He was also the host of AOL’s award winning Original Series, 2 Point Lead (a sports comedy show). Yannis’ Half Hour Comedy Central Special aired in 2014 and is available on Amazon, iTunes, ComedyCentral.com and whenever Comedy Central re-runs it. His 2016 album Let Me Be Yannis (recorded in Madison, WI) is available on iTunes and Spotify. Yannis was also the co-host of MSG’s sports fan show, The Bracket and the co-host of ABC’s Fusion Live. Yannis has been part of the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, New York Comedy Festival and tours the world as a stand-up comedian and is known for his immensely popular characters Mr. Panos and Maurica. His podcast Long Days with Yanni is available on YouTube and wherever you listen to podcasts. Oh, Yannis has no fumes.

Career Path

2013Co-hosted 'Fusion Live' on the Fusion network alongside co-anchor colleagues, putting his sports-comedy instincts on a national cable platform.
2014His Comedy Central Half Hour Special aired nationally and became available on Amazon, iTunes, and ComedyCentral.com, introducing his characters Mr. Panos and Maurica to a cable audience.
2016Recorded his comedy album 'Let Me Be Yannis' live in Madison, WI, releasing it on iTunes and Spotify as a standalone document of his character-driven live set.
2018Hosted NextVR's virtual reality live stand-up series 'Live in Gotham' for 44 episodes across 2018-19, an early experiment in immersive comedy production.
2019'Blowing the Light', his first hour-long stand-up special produced and directed by Andrew Schulz, debuted on YouTube and surpassed two million views.
2022Released the hour-long special 'Mom Love' on YouTube, drawing on personal family material that deepened his audience connection beyond the viral characters.
2023Became a regular guest on major comedy podcasts including 'The Joe Rogan Experience', 'Kill Tony', and 'Your Mom's House', amplifying his profile within the New York stand-up ecosystem.
2024Relaunched 'History Hyenas', his podcast co-hosted with Chris Distefano, after an extended hiatus, returning to a listener base that had grown substantially during his absence.
2024Performed at the Netflix Is a Joke Fest, the New York Comedy Festival, and the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, stacking the year's biggest comedy festival stages.
2025Released 'Property Owner', a full hour-long stand-up special filmed at the Comedy Mothership in Austin, TX, on the History Hyenas YouTube channel.
