Andrew Dice Clay

BIOGRAPHy

Born Andrew Clay Silverstein in Brooklyn, Dice was still a teen when he began performing in comedy clubs in the 70s. By 1980, he had migrated to Los Angeles, where he performed at The Comedy Store. During this time, Clay played bit parts in movies and television, but his stage act slowly began to build a following when he developed the ‘Dice’ persona. In 1988, he finally exploded onto the national comedy scene with a breakout appearance on one of Rodney Dangerfield’s Comedy Specials on HBO. Soon after, he headlined his own HBO special, “Andrew ‘Dice’ Clay: The Diceman Cometh.” Dice eventually got his first starring role in the feature, “The Adventures of Ford Fairlane.” Clay had two best-selling albums, “Dice” and “The Day the Laughter Died.” For much of the next few years, Clay laid low, returning in 1995 in the TV-movie “No Contest” (HBO). Soon after, Clay co-starred with Cathy Moriarty in the CBS sitcom “Bless This House” (1995-1996). Clay then returned to series TV as a surly record company executive in the UPN sitcom “Hitz.” More recently, Clay appeared in Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine,” and earned rave reviews. Clay was also very well received on HBO’s “Entourage.” Clay recently did a show for Showtime. Dice has filled 20,000-seat arenas and continues to be a major draw, especially in Las Vegas. After the shock wears off, the laughter remains – and then some. Dice still rules!
