He’s politically incorrect – and he’s proud. After countless appearances on “The Tonight Show,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” three HBO specials, sitcoms, movies and many stand-up tours, Bill Maher found – or more accurately, created – his perfect forum with ABC’s “Politically Incorrect.” Critics touted the show as: “The coolest show on cable” (Esquire) and the “Best talk show on television” (TV Guide). The winner of two 1995 Cable Ace Awards for best talk show and best entertainment host, Bill Maher ingeniously mediated a hilarious and provocative half hour of spontaneous opinions. The casting process brought together such unlikely parings as Jerry Seinfeld and Ed Rollins, Governor Lowell Weicher and Howie Mandel, and Harvey Fierstein and G. Gordon Liddy. Maher now continues his role as the star and creator of HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher.” Bill Maher might be politically incorrect, but he’s the correct choice for any event.

Career Path

1993Created and launched 'Politically Incorrect' on Comedy Central, assembling unlikely pairings, Jerry Seinfeld with political operatives, governors with comedians, into a half-hour of spontaneous provocation.
1995Won two CableACE Awards for 'Politically Incorrect', Best Talk Show Series and Best Entertainment Host, cementing the show's reputation as, per TV Guide, 'the best talk show on television.'
1997'Politically Incorrect' moved from Comedy Central to ABC, reaching a broader prime-time audience with the same formula of celebrity-politician sparring.
2003Launched 'Real Time with Bill Maher' on HBO taking his political commentary format to a weekly hour-long platform that has aired continuously since.
2008Released the documentary 'Religulous', a film examining organized religion that became one of the highest-grossing political documentaries of its era.
2010Received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Television category at 1634 Vine Street.
2014Earned a Primetime Emmy Award as executive producer of the HBO documentary series 'Vice'.
2022Launched 'Club Random with Bill Maher', a podcast featuring long-form one-on-one conversations recorded at the bar on his Los Angeles property, quickly building a wide audience.
2024'Real Time with Bill Maher' remained his anchor franchise on HBO, delivering weekly political commentary through one of the most contentious election cycles in American history.
2026'Real Time' returned for Season 24 on HBO, with Maher continuing to moderate panel discussions on politics and culture as one of cable television's longest-running talk-show hosts.
