BIOGRAPHy

Billy Ray Cyrus grew up surrounded by gospel music. Cyrus went on to fame as the multi-platinum hunky heartthrob behind such country hits as “Achy Breaky Heart,” “Could’ve Been Me,” “In the Heart of a Woman” and “Busy Man.” In March 2001, Cyrus hit TV screens in the role of a country doctor moved to Manhattan in the sitcom Doc. He returned to music world with 2003’s Time Flies and the gospel-inspired The Other Side, and in 2006, the same year Cyrus appeared on the Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana, a show starring his real-life daughter Miley, Wanna Be Your Joe came out and went gold. Riding on the wave of Hannah Montana’s popularity, Cyrus released his tenth studio album, Home at Last, in 2007. The album debuted at number 20 on the U.S. Billboard charts, both re-establishing Cyrus as a presence in country music and highlighting the popularity (not to mention influence) of his daughter’s show. More recently, Cyrus released Thin Line in 2016. Cyrus is still touring and breaking hearts wherever he plays.

1992Broke through with debut album 'Some Gave All' on Mercury Records, powered by the crossover smash "Achy Breaky Heart" that made him a multi-platinum country phenomenon.
1992"Could've Been Me" and "In the Heart of a Woman" followed in the same chart run, cementing his reputation as Nashville's hunky heartthrob of the moment.
2001Stepped from recording studios to television, starring as small-town doctor Clint "Doc" Cassidy relocated to Manhattan in the PAX sitcom 'Doc', a role he also composed the theme music for.
2006Joined the Disney Channel's 'Hannah Montana' as Robby Ray Stewart, co-starring alongside his real-life daughter Miley Cyrus in the series that became a global cultural juggernaut.
2007'Home at Last' debuted at No. 3 on the country charts, his highest chart entry since 1993, riding the wave of 'Hannah Montana' visibility to re-establish him as a country recording artist.
2016Released 'Thin Line', his fourteenth studio album, blending country and gospel textures and peaking at No. 49 on the country charts.
2019Featured on Lil Nas X's record-shattering "Old Town Road" remix, which spent 19 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the longest run in chart history at the time.
2020Won two Grammy Awards alongside Lil Nas X, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video, for "Old Town Road", his first Grammy wins after seven career nominations.
2021Collaborated with Australian singer Firerose on the indie-country single "New Day", rekindling a creative partnership that had begun when they met on the 'Hannah Montana' set.
2023Married Firerose in a private ceremony, then filed for divorce seven months later citing fraud, a highly public split that dominated entertainment headlines through the summer.
