Clay Walker remains a powerhouse in the American country music landscape, actively touring and recording more than thirty years after his explosive 1993 debut. Born Ernest Clayton Walker Jr. on August 19, 1969, in Beaumont, Texas, he was discovered at a local showcase and quickly achieved stardom with his chart-topping debut single, “What’s It to You”. This kicked off a massive run in the 1990s neotraditional country movement, resulting in 11 chart-topping hits—including “Live Until I Die” and “If I Could Make a Living”—and four consecutive platinum albums. Even after facing a life-changing Multiple Sclerosis (MS) diagnosis in 1996, Walker refused to step back. Instead, he became a dedicated advocate, creating the Clay Walker Foundation to raise millions for MS research and education. The Texas Cowboy Hall of Famer sold out his Ryman Auditorium headline debut last November, and performed 59 show dates in 2025. Now in 2026, the 57-year-old artist continues his incredible momentum on the road with his nationwide “Doin’ What I Love Tour” and a scheduled winter holiday run. Showing no signs of slowing down, Walker also expanded his creative catalog by debuting the single “Detours” alongside a major Netflix documentary. His resilience and enduring vocals solidify his legacy as a true country music legend who continues to win his health battles while doing what he loves.

Career Path

1993Signed to Giant Records after producer James Stroud heard him at the Neon Armadillo in Beaumont, then released his self-titled debut; first two singles 'What's It to You' and 'Live Until I Die' both reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart.
1994Released 'If I Could Make a Living', his second platinum-certified studio album, extending a run of Top 5 hits that would total a dozen by decade's end.
1995Released 'Hypnotize the Moon', adding another platinum record to a catalog that made him one of the defining voices of mid-1990s Texas country.
1996Received a multiple sclerosis diagnosis while at the peak of his chart success; rather than withdrawing, he went public with the illness and founded the Band Against MS nonprofit to channel the experience into advocacy.
2003Founded the Band Against MS charity, which has since raised over $2.6 million for research and support services through his annual Pebble Beach golf classic and touring advocacy work.
2007Released 'Fall' on Curb Records and toured nonstop in its support, proving his commercial footing on a new label after stints with Giant and RCA.
2010Reached the Billboard Country Top 15 with the title track of 'She Won't Be Lonely Long' on Curb Records.
2021Released 'Texas to Tennessee' on Show Dog Nashville, his eleventh studio album, produced by Michael Knox and recorded across Galveston and Nashville.
