BIOGRAPHy

Florence Welch grew up listening to her parents’ record collection, which included bands such as The Velvet Underground, Love and The Smiths. In June 2008, Florence and The Machine released “Kiss With A Fist” on 7″ vinyl and as a download. Their next release was in December 2008, when they released the single “Dog Days Are Over.” The band’s third single, “You’ve Got The Love” was released in January 2009. Both the BBC and NME were quick to pick up on Florence and The Machine’s potential. The band was chosen to perform in the NME Awards Tour 2009, alongside Friendly Fires, White Lies and Glasvegas. The tour passed through a number of large university venues. In February 2009, Florence and The Machine received the Critics’ Choice Award at the BRIT Awards. In 2015, the band released their third album, How Big How Blue How Beautiful. Florence and The Machine continue to tour the universe.

Career Path

2008Launched their recorded career with debut single "Kiss With A Fist" on 7-inch vinyl, followed within months by "Dog Days Are Over," drawing immediate attention from both the BBC and NME.
2009Won the Critics' Choice Award at the BRIT Awards, then toured UK university venues on the NME Awards Tour alongside Friendly Fires, White Lies, and Glasvegas.
2009Debut album 'Lungs' debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and won British Album of the Year at the BRIT Awards.
2015Stepped in as emergency Glastonbury headliner after Foo Fighters withdrew due to injury, making Florence and The Machine the first female-fronted act to headline the festival's Pyramid Stage that century.
2015Third album 'How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful' entered the UK Albums Chart at number one in its debut week and earned five Grammy nominations, including Best Pop Vocal Album.
2021Contributed "Call Me Cruella" to Disney's 'Cruella' soundtrack, a swooping art-rock original that became one of the film's signature tracks.
2022'Dance Fever' debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, the band's fourth chart-topper, with lead single "King" earning a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Performance.
2023Took 'Dance Fever' to arenas and festivals worldwide before Florence Welch underwent life-saving surgery mid-tour, a recovery that directly shaped the emotional core of the next album.
2025Sixth album 'Everybody Scream' was released and debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart with universal critical acclaim, described by Metacritic as receiving a score of 81 out of 100 from sixteen critics.
2026Headlined the Everybody Scream Tour across Europe and North America, including sold-out nights at New York's Madison Square Garden and two nights at Los Angeles' Kia Forum.
