BIOGRAPHy

Jack Ingram first started playing seriously while studying psychology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He toured around the bars of Texas and landed a regular Tuesday night gig at the honky tonk club Adair’s. The second of Ingram’s two independently released albums was recorded live at the club. He earned a recording contract with Universal Records’ Rising Tide imprint and worked with Steve Earle on his debut for the label, 1997’s Livin’ Or Dyin’. Ingram relocated to Sony for 1999’s Hey You. The 2000 follow-up was a Texas concert recorded with Charlie Robison and Bruce Robison. Live at Billy Bob’s Texas arrived in November 2003. In 2006, Ingram released Live: Wherever You Are. The album’s first single, “Wherever You Are,” reached No. 1 on country radio. This Is It, followed in 2007. Jack won the Academy of Country Music award for Best New Male Vocalist in 2008. Big Dreams & High Hopes was released in 2009. Midnight Motel followed in 2016. Jack Ingram continues to pack ’em in for his enthusiastic live shows.

 

Career Path

1995Self-released 'Live at Adair's', recorded at his regular Tuesday night honky-tonk residency in Dallas, establishing him as a Texas country club circuit headliner before ever signing a major deal.
1997Signed with Universal Records' Rising Tide imprint and released 'Livin' or Dyin'', his major-label debut produced with Steve Earle.
2002Released 'Electric' on Sony, expanding his sound from the acoustic Texas-roadhouse style while keeping his regional fanbase intact.
2003'Live at Billy Bob's Texas' captured his reputation as a live performer at the Fort Worth honky-tonk landmark, cementing his status as a Texas touring staple.
2006'Wherever You Are' debuted on Big Machine Records and sent the album's title-track single to No. 1 on country radio, delivering Ingram his first national chart-topper.
2008Won the Academy of Country Music Award for Top New Male Vocalist, the industry's formal recognition of his breakthrough from the Texas regional circuit to national prominence.
2016Returned to his singer-songwriter roots with 'Midnight Motel', recorded with Jon Randall and widely praised as his most personal record since his independent Texas days.
2021Co-wrote and performed on 'The Marfa Tapes' alongside Miranda Lambert and Jon Randall, a stripped-down acoustic record cut outdoors in the Texas high desert that earned a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album and debuted on Austin City Limits.
2022Maintained a steady Texas-anchored touring schedule, headlining club and theater dates at Gruene Hall, The Kessler Theater, and ACL Live at the Moody Center in Austin.
2024Performed a headlining run across Texas venues including The Kessler Theater in Dallas and Austin City Limits Live, keeping his live-first reputation alive with crowds who follow him show to show.
