An actor and comedian, Gaffigan is known for his TV Land series The Jim Gaffigan Show, based on his life. He auditioned for The Late Show with David Letterman for six years, finally appearing on it in 1999, launching his career. His many screen credits include guest and starring spots on Sex and the City, Ed, That 70’s Show, Rick and Morty, and on Saturday Night Live, on which he played Tim Walz. He has received an Emmy Award and has been nominated for eight Grammys. Gaffigan appeared on Broadway in That Championship Season opposite Brian Cox.  Gaffigan is a stand-up legend whose comedy largely focuses on fatherhood, laziness, food, and general observations. Known as a “clean comic,” his work, his comedy specials, including Mr. Universe, Obsessed, Cinco, and Quality Time, have all received Grammy nominations.

Career Path

1999After six years of auditions, landed 'The Late Show with David Letterman', the appearance the bio credits as the true launch of his national career.
2006'Beyond the Pale' introduced his signature Hot Pocket bits and quiet-voice asides to a wide audience, setting the template for the food-and-fatherhood observational comedy that would define his brand.
2012'Mr. Universe' earned a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album and sold out theaters across the country, signaling his move from cult favorite to mainstream headliner.
2014'Obsessed' added another Grammy nomination and became the first of three back-to-back nominated specials, alongside 'Cinco' and 'Quality Time', that anchor his televised legacy.
2015TV Land premiered 'The Jim Gaffigan Show,' the semi-autobiographical series the bio leads with, a rare crossover from stand-up to scripted television that extended his reach to audiences who had never seen a comedy special.
2019Appeared on Broadway in 'That Championship Season' opposite Brian Cox, demonstrating that his clean-comic persona translates across live formats beyond stand-up.
2024Played Tim Walz on 'Saturday Night Live' across four episodes during the presidential campaign season, earning an Emmy Award, his most visible mainstream pop-culture moment in years.
2025Launched 'The Skinny' on Hulu as the streamer's inaugural original stand-up special, his 11th hour-long special overall, generating nearly 100 million clip views online.
2025Expanded the 'Everything Is Wonderful!' tour to a full-year North American run, over 30 dates spanning January through December, touring new material from 'The Skinny' into arenas and performing-arts centers across the country.
