BIOGRAPHy

Singer-songwriter Josh Kelley began writing songs while a student at the University of Mississippi. After posting MP3s of his songs on the internet, he was contacted by an A&R rep for Hollywood Records. Kelley eventually signed with the label, and his debut album, For the Ride Home, was released in 2003. One of the tracks, “Amazing,” was included on the soundtrack of Raising Helen, a film starring Kate Hudson. The exposure pushed the song to the Top 10, and For the Ride Home was re-released in 2004 with an additional bonus disc containing acoustic performances and two unreleased songs. Continuing his recording career, his songs have been featured on episodes of TV shows such as Smallville, Brothers and Sisters, The Hills and Scrubs. In 2009, he signed to the MCA imprint of the Universal Music Group Nashville. Kelley dropped Georgia Clay in 2011. He followed with the album New Lane Road in 2016. Josh Kelley continues to tour the country.

 
 

Career Path

2002Signed with Hollywood Records after posting original MP3 demos online while studying at the University of Mississippi, the label discovering him through digital word-of-mouth.
2003Released debut album For the Ride Home on Hollywood Records, introducing the Top 10 Adult Top 40 single "Amazing" to country and pop audiences.
2004"Amazing" reached the Top 10 after placement on the Kate Hudson film Raising Helen soundtrack, prompting a re-release of For the Ride Home with a bonus acoustic disc and two unreleased tracks.
2009Signed to MCA Nashville, an imprint of Universal Music Group Nashville, expanding from pop-rock into country music.
2011Dropped Georgia Clay on MCA Nashville, his first full country album, co-writing the title track with his brother Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum and producer Clint Lagerberg.
2011Tapped as an opening act on Taylor Swift's Speak Now World Tour, performing before arena and stadium audiences across the United States.
2016Wrote, produced, engineered, and played every instrument on New Lane Road, the self-driven album released five years after Georgia Clay.
2020Released My Baby and the Band, a full-length album rooted in domestic life on the family horse ranch outside Park City, Utah, with wife Katherine Heigl and their three children.
2021Released Unplugged, an 11-track acoustic reimagining of career favorites, recorded entirely at his home studio during quarantine with Kelley producing and performing every instrument.
2024Performed at the Park City Song Summit Forum Songwriter Stage in Park City, Utah, bringing his catalog to a curated festival audience.
