Gamble on Kenny Rogers – because he’s a sure thing! Kenny Rogers has recorded more than 58 albums which have sold more than 100 million records worldwide. In March 1999, the Recording Industry Association of America awarded Kenny the prestigious Diamond Award, celebrating sales of more than 10 million albums for his greatest hits album. As one of country’s biggest crossover successes, Kenny’s numerous accolades include four Grammys, 11 People’s Choice Awards, 18 American Music Awards, eight Academy of Country Music Awards and five Country Music Association Awards. In addition, he was named “Favorite Singer of All Time” in a PM Magazine/USA Today poll in 1986, and in 1989, readers of People Magazine voted Kenny “Favorite Male Vocalist.” Kenny spends a great deal of his time recording and performing, but he has also enjoyed a wonderfully fulfilling career as an actor and is best known worldwide for his colorful portrayal as The Gambler’s Brady Hawkes. More recently, in 2014, he dropped the album 10 Great Songs: 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection. Always seeking new challenges, Kenny Rogers continues to satisfy his legions of fans by touring constantly.

 

Career Path

1978Released 'The Gambler,' the title track of which became his signature song and the basis for a long-running series of CBS television movies starring Rogers as Brady Hawkes.
1980'Lady,' written by Lionel Richie and recorded for the album 'Gideon,' spent six consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, cementing Rogers as one of country's greatest crossover stars.
1983Recorded 'Islands in the Stream' with Dolly Parton for the album 'Eyes That See in the Dark,' a duet that topped the country charts and became one of the best-selling country singles of the decade.
1986Named 'Favorite Singer of All Time' in a PM Magazine/USA Today poll, reflecting a sustained popularity built on more than 58 albums and 100 million records sold worldwide.
1999The Recording Industry Association of America awarded Rogers the Diamond Award for his Greatest Hits album, recognizing sales exceeding ten million copies for a single title.
2013Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, joining a career total that included four Grammy Awards, 18 American Music Awards, 11 People's Choice Awards, and five Country Music Association Awards.
2017Headlined 'All In for the Gambler,' his farewell concert at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, sharing the stage one final time with Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Reba McEntire, and Chris Stapleton.
2020Passed away at age 81; 'CMT Giants Kenny Rogers: A Benefit for MusiCares' aired tributes from Dolly Parton, Vince Gill, and Rascal Flatts in his memory.
2021'Kenny Rogers: All In for the Gambler,' the filmed Bridgestone Arena farewell concert, broadcast on CBS and Paramount+, introducing his final performance to a new generation of viewers.
2023The posthumous album 'Life Is Like a Song,' curated by widow Wanda Rogers and featuring eight previously unreleased recordings plus a new duet with Dolly Parton, was released via UMe.
