BIOGRAPHy

Although singer-actress Liza Minnelli can count Academy Award-winning film roles, Tony Award-winning musical theater performances, Emmy Award-winning television specials, and gold-selling records among her accomplishments, she is primarily a concert performer whose career has been defined by a series of stage acts dating back to her nightclub debut in 1965. Her best work in film, in the musical theater, and on television has taken advantage of and grown out of her reputation as a live performer, and many of the albums she has released under her own name are concert recordings. (She has also appeared on numerous soundtracks and cast albums.) Since she began performing in the early ’60s, Minnelli has displayed an energetic style that combines technical precision with warmth and enthusiasm, allowing her to transcend the trends in popular music over the course of her career and maintain her status as a major star. She released Confessions in 2010. Minelli continues to tour the world.

Career Path

1965Won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical at 19 years old for 'Flora, the Red Menace,' the first Kander and Ebb musical, becoming the youngest winner of that award.
1972Filmed the NBC concert special 'Liza with a Z' under director Bob Fosse, capturing her live command in a broadcast that won the Emmy for Outstanding Single Program.
1990Received the Grammy Legend Award alongside Willie Nelson, Smokey Robinson, and Andrew Lloyd Webber, honoring a body of work spanning decades of concert performance and recording.
1992Took home a third Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for 'The Act' on Broadway, reinforcing her status as one of the stage's most decorated performers.
1995Won the Academy Award for Best Actress for 'Cabaret,' playing Sally Bowles opposite Joel Grey in a film that defined the screen musical for a generation.
2008Returned to Broadway with 'Liza's at The Palace...!' at the Palace Theatre, a solo concert run that won the Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event.
2010Released 'Confessions' on Decca Records, recorded with longtime collaborator pianist Billy Stritch, her first studio album in years.
2022Appeared at the 94th Academy Awards alongside Lady Gaga to present the Best Picture award, her first major televised appearance in years.
2023Made a rare public appearance singing at Ben Vereen's cabaret show at the Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles, her first known performance in years.
2026Published her memoir 'Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!' and released a companion single of the same name, her first new recording since 2013.
