BIOGRAPHy

Nile Rodgers has written, produced and played on many of the most memorable pop and dance music songs of all time. After his initial success with CHIC (“Good Times,” “Le Freak”), Nile and his CHIC partner, Bernard Edwards wrote and produced the biggest selling albums for Sister Sledge (“We Are Family”) and Diana Ross (“Upside Down” and I’m Coming Out”). He went on to produce, compose and/or play a number of best selling records with such artists as David Bowie, Daft Punk, Duran Duran, Madonna, INXS, Mick Jagger, Peter Gabriel, Britney Spears, Joss Stone and Maroon 5. Nile continues to break ground creating music for pop, rock and dance musicians worldwide. in a live setting, Nile and his full band, which includes multiple singers, perform a selection of his many hits such as Like a Virgin, Le Freak, Notorious, Let’s Dance, Good Times/Rappers Delight, I’m Coming Out, Upside Down and We Are Family.

Career Path

1978Released 'Le Freak' with CHIC, which became Atlantic Records' biggest-selling single at the time.
1979Released 'Good Times' with CHIC, one of the most sampled tracks in recorded music history.
1979Wrote and produced 'We Are Family' for Sister Sledge and 'Upside Down' and 'I'm Coming Out' for Diana Ross, all of which became enduring pop standards.
1983Produced David Bowie's 'Let's Dance,' the album's title track becoming Bowie's biggest commercial hit, with Rodgers on guitar throughout.
2013Co-wrote and performed the guitar hook on Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky,' which won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
2017Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame under the Award for Musical Excellence, recognizing his career-spanning contributions as writer, producer, and guitarist.
2018Returned CHIC to the studio for 'It's About Time,' the band's first album in over two decades, released via Virgin EMI Records.
2023Honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and also won Best R&B Song as co-writer and co-producer of Beyonce's 'CUFF IT.'
2024Awarded the Polar Music Prize in Stockholm alongside conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen, an honor presented in the presence of the Swedish royal family and widely described as music's equivalent of the Nobel Prize.
2025Performed in the Legends slot at Glastonbury Festival alongside Rod Stewart, bringing the CHIC catalog to an audience of nearly 100,000 at the Pyramid Stage.
