BIOGRAPHy

For the past two years, following the advice of Paul Shaffer of The Late Show with David Letterman, Brian embarked on a new musical venture…a Neil Diamond tribute band, called “Simply Diamond”. As per Paul Shaffer, “Brian is the best Neil Diamond tribute act out there”. “His voice sounds like the real deal”. “I’ve seen four of the biggest Neil Diamond tribute acts and this guy blows them all away”. In early December, Brian made his first appearance on a new AOL internet show called “Latenet with Ray Ellin”. Paul Shaffer did the honors of introducing him on the show. He has also appeared at many clubs in the Tri State NY metro area. Recently he was a guest on the Joey Reynolds radio show, another music legend, who worked with Neil Diamond at Bang Records and who broke many of Neil’s hits on the radio back in the day. After Brian sang live , Joey said, “I can’t tell the difference between Brian and Neil…if I closed my eyes I’d swear that Neil is here with me in the room”.

 

Career Path

1985Appeared on the TV talent show Star Search and released his first LP with the band Fury, an early milestone in a musical career that also included work with Rupert Holmes and Bobby Kimball of Toto.
2005Formed Blanc Faces with brother Robert La Blanc after a twenty-year gap since his 1980s recordings, releasing the duo's self-titled debut on Italian label Frontiers Records and playing a German festival bill that October alongside Survivor.
2009Issued Blanc Faces' second album, Falling From the Moon, on Frontiers Records, released in Europe on November 6 and in the United States later that November, dedicating the record to drummer Kyle Woodring, who died shortly after recording wrapped.
2011Headlined the Town of Oyster Bay's summer concert series at Allen Park in Farmingdale, New York, bringing the Simply Diamond Neil Diamond tribute show to a Long Island parks audience under the Music Under the Stars banner.
2013Took the stage at The Palace Danbury in Connecticut on May 11 fronting Simply Diamond, drawing on Paul Shaffer's endorsement that his voice sounds like the real deal to sell twenty five and thirty dollar tickets for the show.
2014Anchored a benefit concert at the Village Theater at Cherry Hill in Canton, Michigan, raising funds for the Partnership for the Arts and the Westland Community Foundation with a full Simply Diamond set of Neil Diamond hits.
2015Starred in a dinner theater run of Simply Diamond at the Westchester Broadway Theatre in Elmsford, New York, pairing a Neil Diamond tribute set with a six fifteen dinner seating ahead of the eight o'clock show on October 20.
2019Closed out the Live at the Lake concert series at Coe Lake Park in Berea, Ohio, on July 19, bringing Simply Diamond's Neil Diamond revue to a free lakeside outdoor crowd.
2021Performed a rescheduled benefit concert on July 10 at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center in Hyannis, Massachusetts, raising money for Independence House Inc. and Cape Cod Synagogue with a full band Simply Diamond tribute set.
2021Died at age 58 on August 13 at his home in Goshen, Connecticut, closing a musical career that spanned two Blanc Faces albums on Frontiers Records and years fronting the Simply Diamond tribute act nationwide.
