BIOGRAPHy

Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, Ted Nugent initially gained fame as the lead guitarist of The Amboy Dukes before embarking on a solo career. His hits such as “Stranglehold,” “Cat Scratch Fever,” “Wango Tango” and “Great White Buffalo,” as well as his 1960s Amboy Dukes hit, “Journey to the Center of the Mind,” remain popular and are played on classic rock radio stations worldwide. Nugent is also noted for his staunch conservative political views and his strong advocacy of hunting and gun ownership rights, which some have described as controversial. In 2012, Nugent appeared as himself on The Simpsons, where he is nominated as a presidential candidate for the Republican Party. In 2014, he released Shutup & Jam!. Nugent still tours the world. Career Path

1968Broke through as lead guitarist of The Amboy Dukes with the psychedelic hard-rock single "Journey to the Center of the Mind," which reached number 16 on the U.S. pop chart.
1975Launched his solo career on Epic Records with the self-titled debut album featuring "Stranglehold," the eight-minute guitar showcase that became a classic-rock radio staple.
1977Released Cat Scratch Fever, his best-selling solo album, anchored by the title track that remains one of the most-played songs in classic-rock radio history.
1990Formed the supergroup Damn Yankees alongside Tommy Shaw of Styx and Jack Blades of Night Ranger, scoring a top-ten hit with "High Enough."
2012Guest-starred as himself on The Simpsons, appearing in an episode where his character is nominated as a presidential candidate for the Republican Party.
2014Released Shutup and Jam!, his fourteenth studio album and first all-new studio record in seven years.
2022Released Detroit Muscle, a new studio album paying tribute to his Motor City roots, supported by live dates across the U.S.
2023Headlined the Adios Mofo '23 farewell tour across the U.S., declaring it his last extended road run while affirming he would continue recording and playing select shows.
2025Performed the Stranglehold 50th Bash at Freedom Hill Amphitheatre in Detroit, a 17-song celebration of his debut album's anniversary that was captured for a concert film released on Blu-ray.
2026Announced an expanding wave of U.S. tour dates, with more than 30 shows on the schedule, proving reports of his retirement from the road premature.
