Michael Carbonaro

Actor, magician, comedian and improv artist known for his original hidden camera magic series, THE CARBONARO EFFECT on truTV, Michael Carbonaro has been seen in recurring roles in television such as Happily Divorced, The Newsroom, 30 Rock, How to Make it in America, The Wizards of Waverly Place and CSI Miami. In 2015, he was honored by The Academy of Magical Arts as Magician of the Year, and in 2016, Carbonaro was the first recipient of the Copperfield Prize. Career Path

2006Earned a recurring role on HBO's 'How to Make It in America,' one of several prestige cable and network credits that built his profile as a working actor-comedian alongside his live magic career.
2010Joined the cast of NBC's '30 Rock,' Tina Fey's flagship broadcast sitcom, adding a flagship comedy credential to a television resume that also included 'CSI: Miami,' 'Happily Divorced,' and 'The Newsroom.'
2014Launched 'The Carbonaro Effect' on truTV, a hidden-camera magic series in which unsuspecting members of the public are fooled by seemingly impossible feats performed in everyday settings, establishing his signature television identity.
2015Honored by the Academy of Magical Arts as Magician of the Year, the profession's leading peer-recognition award.
2016Became the first recipient of the Copperfield Prize, a new honor named after illusionist David Copperfield recognizing outstanding achievement in the art of magic.
2022Performed at the Penn and Teller Theater in Las Vegas while Penn and Teller were on an Australian tour, then later filled in for Teller during the duo's regular Las Vegas residency, a rare peer endorsement from magic's most celebrated act.
2024Launched his 'Lies on Stage' national tour, updating his live show with all-new magical moments and bringing his reality-twisting illusions to hundreds of sold-out theater dates across the US.
2025Debuted 'Michael Carbonaro: WONDERBOY,' his most ambitious live production yet, combining audience participation, sly improv, and signature illusions in a high-energy show that toured venues including Denver's Paramount Theatre.
2026Continued the WONDERBOY tour nationally, with confirmed dates at venues including House of Blues Houston and Harrah's Laughlin, bringing his blend of hidden-camera comedy and live magic to audiences well beyond the truTV fanbase.
