BIOGRAPHy

Brothers Dwayne and Raphael Wiggins and cousin Timothy Christian have proven themselves durable guardians of the soul and funk tradition, while also infusing their music with enough contemporary devices to remain popular. This Oakland trio scored a number one R&B hit right out of the box in 1988 with “Little Walter.” Their LPs, The Revival in 1990 and Sons of Soul in 1993, have also been enormously successful. Tony! Toni! Toné! released their fourth album, House of Music, in the fall of 1996. In 2003, members of Tony! Toni! Toné! were invited by Alicia Keys to guest on her album, The Diary of Alicia Keys. The song that resulted from that session was called “Diary,” and when it was released as a single in the fall of 2004, it gave them their first Top 10 US hit in eleven years. A reformed Tony! Toni! Toné!, led by Wiggins and Riley, with Amil Khalil singing lead vocals has been touring since late 2008. In 2011, they released Icon, a compilation album, and they continue to perform and remain a hot ticket.

Career Path

1988Launched from Oakland with the debut album 'Who?' and the Number One R&B hit 'Little Walter,' an innovative retooling of the spiritual 'Wade In The Water' that announced a new soul voice.
1990'The Revival' yielded four Number One R&B singles, including 'Feels Good,' 'It Never Rains (In Southern California),' 'Whatever You Want,' and 'The Blues,' going gold within two months of release.
1993Recorded largely in Trinidad, 'Sons of Soul' produced the Top Ten hits 'If I Had No Loot' and 'Anniversary' and is now regarded as a foundational text for the neo-soul movement.
1996Closed their original run with the platinum-certified 'House of Music,' widely cited by critics as their artistic peak before the group disbanded.
2003Invited by Alicia Keys to contribute to 'The Diary of Alicia Keys,' sparking a session that would yield their next charting single.
2004The Keys collaboration 'Diary,' released as a single, climbed to the Top 10 on the U.S. charts, their first such placement in eleven years.
2008Relaunched as a touring act under Dwayne Wiggins and Timothy Riley, with Amil Khalil on lead vocals, bringing the Oakland soul catalog back to live audiences.
2023Raphael Saadiq reunited with Dwayne Wiggins and Timothy Riley for the 'Just Me and You Tour,' their first road trip together as the original three members in nearly 30 years, with stops in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, and Oakland's Paramount Theatre.
2024Performed Dwayne Wiggins-led dates at venues including Yoshi's in their hometown of Oakland, keeping the group's live reputation alive on the R&B circuit.
2026Booked for festival and amphitheater dates, including a billed appearance with Anthony Hamilton at Tulalip Amphitheatre, sustaining demand as R&B nostalgia touring reaches a commercial peak.
