BIOGRAPHy

He’s bad to the bone! A blues-rock guitarist who draws his inspiration from Elmore James, Hound Dog Taylor, and Chuck Berry, George Thorogood became a popular favorite in the early ’80s on FM radio and the arena rock circuit. Thorogood’s music is always loud, simple, and direct. George Thorogood & the Destroyers’ eponymous debut was released in early 1977. The group’s second album, Move It On Over, was released in 1978. The title track, a cover of Hank Williams’ classic, received heavy FM airplay, helping the album enter the American Top 40 and go gold. Following the release of More George Thorogood, the guitarist released his major-label debut, Bad to the Bone, in 1982. The title track of the album became his first major crossover hit. The album went gold and spent nearly a full year on the charts. Thorogood’s next three albums after Bad to the Bone all went gold. In 2014, he released Live At Montreux 2013. George Thorogood continues to tour and draw big crowds with his amazing live show.

Career Path

1977Self-titled debut album 'George Thorogood and the Destroyers' arrived on Rounder Records, reviving Delta blues-rock for a rock audience.
1981Completed the '50/50' tour playing all 50 US states in 50 days, then spent the fall opening for the Rolling Stones on their US stadium run.
1982'Bad to the Bone' was released as a single and became a global rock anthem, a staple of classic rock radio for more than four decades.
1985Performed at Live Aid at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia alongside Bo Diddley and Albert Collins, reaching a worldwide television audience.
2017Released 'Party of One', his first solo acoustic album, earning critical praise for stripping the Destroyers sound down to its blues roots.
2022Released 'The Original George Thorogood', a career-spanning collection, as the band marked 45 years of relentless touring.
2023Returned to the road after a health-related hiatus that had cancelled spring tour dates, reasserting his place as a live act.
2024Co-headlined the summer 'Celebration Tour' with John Fogerty across the US and Europe, and received recognition from the Grammy Museum and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Legends of Rock exhibit.
2026Launched 'The Baddest Show on Earth' tour to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary, kicking off in Australia before sweeping through the US and Canada with Loverboy joining select dates.
