BIOGRAPHy

Shaboozey

American singer, songwriter and filmmaker Shaboozey has redefined the intersection of alternative country, hip-hop, and rock. Born Collins Chibueze to Nigerian parents in Northern Virginia, he first gained notable widespread attention when his music was featured on the blockbuster soundtrack for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Shaboozey captured global mainstream stardom with his 2024 album Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, a project propelled by the massive, multi-week Billboard Hot 100 number-one smash “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”. He further solidified his critical standing by taking home a 2026 Grammy Award for “Amen,” his chart-topping collaboration with Jelly Roll. Continuing his highly creative momentum, Shaboozey rolled out The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales, an ambitious cinematic concept album released through his American Dogwood imprint. Backed by his large-scale Outlaws Never Die headlining tour, his distinctive sound makes him a prominent force in contemporary music.

Career Path

2018Released his debut studio album 'Lady Wrangler' on Republic Records in October, blending country twang with hip-hop and R&B across eleven tracks including 'Break the Band (How Could She?)' and 'Winning Streak' to introduce his genre-bending style.
2018Contributed 'Start a Riot' alongside DUCKWRTH to the soundtrack for 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse', placing his voice on a Sony Pictures Animation release that went on to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
2022Released his second full-length album 'Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die' through Empire Distribution in October, a fourteen-track set pairing hip-hop and trap production with outlaw-country storytelling, and featuring RMR on the track 'Hanging High'.
2024Featured on Beyoncé's 'Cowboy Carter' album, rapping alongside Linda Martell on the country-rap cut 'Spaghettii' and returning for 'Sweet Honey Buckiin'', a high-profile placement that introduced his sound to Beyoncé's global fanbase months before his own breakout single.
2024Released his third studio album 'Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going' through American Dogwood and Empire Distribution on May 31, debuting at number five on the Billboard 200 and anchored by the runaway single 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)'.
2024Topped the Billboard Hot 100 with 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' in July, becoming the first Black male artist to simultaneously lead the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts, following Beyoncé's 'Texas Hold 'Em' as only the second Black artist to achieve the feat.
2024Held the Hot 100 summit with 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' for a record-tying 19 weeks, matching Lil Nas X's 'Old Town Road' for the longest number-one run in the chart's 66-year history and the longest ever by a solo act.
2024Headlined his first-ever North American tour that fall, playing his largest venues to date across nine stops from Minneapolis to Los Angeles including Toronto's Danforth Music Hall and closing at The Fonda Theatre, in support of 'Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going'.
2024Earned five nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards as a first-time nominee, including Song of the Year and Best New Artist for 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' plus Best Melodic Rap Performance for his feature on Beyoncé's 'Spaghettii'.
2026Won his first Grammy Award, Best Country Duo/Group Performance, for 'Amen' with Jelly Roll at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in February, dedicating the honor to his mother and to the children of immigrants in his acceptance speech.
