BIOGRAPHy

Founded in 1986 by Mohr, Squires, and Nevin, Big Head Todd and The Monsters became one of the most popular acts through constant touring. After issuing two popular independent releases on their Big imprint, the band hooked up with Giant Records for the platinum album, Sister Sweetly (1993). The Monsters issued four chart albums on Giant and Warner Bros.. Their formidable reputation rests on their stage performances. Big Head Todd and The Monsters Live was recorded on the fabled H.O.R.D.E. tour. Over the years, the group has developed a close relationship with their fans. Their album, All the Love You Need, was released as a free download, and was snapped up by half a million of The Monsters’ followers. “The quality of the relationship between the band and the fan is the most important aspect of our career,” says Mohr. They released Black Beehive in 2014, and they continue to tour hard. They are indeed monsters of the road!

Career Path

1986Founded in Boulder by Todd Mohr, Brian Squires, and Rob Nevin while attending the University of Colorado, playing their first gig at a college party.
1989Self-released the debut album 'Another Mayberry' on their own Big Records imprint, establishing the independent ethos that would define their relationship with fans.
1993'Sister Sweetly', their Giant Records major-label debut, went platinum and spawned rock-chart singles 'Bittersweet', 'Broken Hearted Savior', and 'Circle'.
1993Headlined the H.O.R.D.E. Festival tour, with the resulting live recordings captured on 'Big Head Todd and The Monsters Live'.
2007Released 'All the Love You Need' as a free download, with half a million fans claiming the album, a direct expression of what Todd Mohr calls 'the most important aspect of our career.'
2014Recorded 'Black Beehive' at Butcher Boy Studios in Chicago with Grammy-winning producer Steve Jordan, returning to their traditional roots-rock sound.
2017Released 'New World Arisin'', their first studio album in several years, reaffirming the band's place on the national touring circuit.
2024Released 'Her Way Out', their 12th studio album, marking their first new studio record in seven years and kicking off the band's 40th-anniversary touring campaign.
2025Celebrated four decades together with a 57-show anniversary tour and released '40 Live', a forty-song compilation drawn from performances across 2024 and 2025.
2026Opened a new 15-city tour leg at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, extending dates through multiple markets including Kansas City, Saint Paul, Atlanta, and Houston.
