Celebrity Comedians
Steven Wright

When he's dry, he's darn awesome. No one does dry better. Steven Wright is one of America's most unique talents. His meteoric rise to success began in August of 1982 when he was given a guest shot on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson that generated such enthusiasm that Wright was asked to return one week later - a phenomenon that had not been achieved by an unknown in ten years. Wright's back-to-back appearances with the king of late night put his career into high gear. Wright soon found himself performing his off-beat routines on Saturday Night Live, Late Niqht With David Letterman and The Tonight Show. September 1990, Steven Wright starred in a special for HBO, and his 1986 debut album, I Have a Pony, earned him a Grammy nomination. He followed this with an HBO special, On Location: Steven Wright. In 1989, Steven Wright was awarded an Academy Award for his short film, The Appointments of Dennis Jennings. Wright's talents also grace the big screen in the blockbuster Desperately Seeking Susan and Stau & Bars starring Daniel Day Lewis. More recent credits include Louie, Horace and Pete and The Flaming C. Although Steven Wright's success is now assured the dry comedian keeps a modest outlook on his ability. "My whole act is just a funny pack of lies," he told a reporter. Keep the lies coming. Steven Wright is one of the greats.
