Carlos Mencia
Carlos Mencia's television series, "Mind of Mencia," debuted on Comedy Central on July 6, 2005. "Mind of Mencia" relentlessly took on topics such as ethnic stereotypes, race relations and immigration. Mencia became known for his two solo HBO Specials, one of which received a CableACE Award nomination, and as host of the groundbreaking series, "Funny Is Funny." His first appearance on "The Tonight Show" received a standing ovation. His additional television credits include guest-starring roles on both "The Shield" and "The Bernie Mac Show." Carlos also starred in his own original half-hour special for Comedy Central, "Comedy Central Presents Carlos Mencia," and has been seen on such shows as CNBC's "Dennis Miller," ABC's "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher," HBO's "Loco Slam," and "Comic Relief VI." On the big screen, Mencia's film credits include "29 Palms" and "Outta' Time" and starring opposite Ben Stiller in "The Heartbreak Kid." StudioWorks Entertainment released his first retail DVD, "Carlos Mencia: Not for the Easily Offended Live in San Jose," in 2005, and "Carlos Mencia: No Strings Attached – Live, Extended and Uncensored," released in October 2006, became the first stand-up DVD release from Comedy Central Home Entertainment to be certified platinum.
