BIOGRAPHy

Don has just finished taping his first Showtime one-hour Comedy Special and is a two-time winner of the prestigious San Francisco International Comedy Competition (the only 2-time winner in it’s storied 35-year history.)  Engaging, clean, clever, and flat-out fun, Friesen’s act is a high energy satire of his life as a suburban husband and father of two trying to get through the day with a little money in the bank and a bit of dignity intact.  Enjoy the ride as Don lampoons his marriage,  parenting skills, and love/hate relationship with technology, complemented with a fun mix of offbeat impressions including John Lithgow, Gary Busey and Dr. Phil to name a few… Don’s credits include Live at Gotham, The Lewis Black Christmas Special, Comics Unleashed, The Martin Short Show, Later and Friday Nights.  He was also featured in TBS’ “The Comedy Festival” in Las Vegas and is a wildly popular on KLOS’ 5:00 Funnies and XM Sirius satellite radio.

Career Path

1999Won the San Francisco International Comedy Competition, the most prestigious regional stand-up contest in the country, out of hundreds of entrants.
2005Returned to the San Francisco International Comedy Competition and won a second time, becoming the only comedian in the event's 35-year history to claim the title twice.
2009Taped a set for Comedy Central's "Live at Gotham," earning national television exposure alongside some of the best up-and-coming voices in stand-up.
2012Premiered his first Showtime one-hour special "Ask Your Mom," filmed at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA, a clean, sharp hour built around marriage, parenting, and the absurdities of tech culture.
2017Featured on Dry Bar Comedy in the "Live in Provo" special, introducing his suburban-husband material to Dry Bar's rapidly growing family-friendly audience.
2017"Ask Your Mom" was added to Netflix, extending the special's reach to a global streaming audience years after its Showtime premiere.
2021Reached the finals of the 2021 Boston Comedy Festival, reinforcing his reputation as one of the most consistent headliners working the regional and national circuit.
2024Taped "Break a Leg", a new one-hour special built around a backstage injury that sent him to Urgent Care hours before filming, showcasing fresh material and his signature high-energy physical delivery.
2025Brought his theater tour to performing arts centers across the country, with dates at venues including the Admiral Theatre, drawing audiences who have followed his parenting-and-tech satire since the Showtime era.
