Florida Georgia Line (FGL) is an American country music duo consisting of Tyler Hubbard(Monroe, Georgia) and Brian Kelley (Ormond Beach, Florida). The pair met in 2008 at Belmont University in Nashville through a campus worship group and began writing songs together between classes. They officially formed the duo in 2010, naming it after the geographical line between their home states. The group exploded into the mainstream in 2012 with their breakout single “Cruise,”which became the first country song to receive RIAA Diamond certification. A remix featuring rapper Nelly further bridged the gap between country, rock, and hip-hop, helping to pioneer the “bro-country” subgenre. Over the next decade, FGL dominated the charts with 18 number-one singles, including the record-breaking “Meant to Be” with Bebe Rexha, which spent an unprecedented 50 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
Throughout their career, the duo released five studio albums, including their smash debut Here’s to the Good Times. They have been honored with numerous awards from the ACM, CMA, and Billboard Music Awards. Beyond music, they expanded their brand into business ventures like Old Camp Whiskey and their FGL House restaurant. In 2022, after years of massive success and influence, the duo announced an indefinite hiatus from touring and recording as a group to pursue individual solo careers. Keep an eye out for them getting back on tour one of these days!
