BIOGRAPHy

Seth MacFarlane is a creator, writer, director and singer of some of today’s most popular content, garnering two Emmy Awards, three Grammy Award nominations and an Academy Award nomination for his work in television, music and motion pictures. He has traveled the world to sing with renowned orchestras, such as the BBC Proms, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the Los Angeles and New York Philharmonic, lending his baritone voice to the hidden gems of the ‘40s and ‘50s swing era. He has released two successful albums and his third debuted at #1 on the iTunes jazz charts this past October. MacFarlane also created the hugely successful television shows FAMILY GUY and AMERICAN DAD, executive produced the Emmy-winning COSMOS: A SPACE TIME ODYSSEY and Starz’ original show, BLUNT TALK. His directorial debut, TED, is the highest grossing original R-rated comedy and he has since gone on to write, direct and produce A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST and TED 2.

 

Career Path

1999Created 'Family Guy' for Fox, becoming the youngest executive producer in network television history at age 24.
2005'Family Guy' was revived on Fox after cancellation, driven by record-breaking DVD sales, and co-creator MacFarlane also launched 'American Dad!' the same year.
2012Directorial debut 'Ted' became the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy in history, with MacFarlane writing, directing, producing, and voicing the title role.
2013Hosted the 85th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre, drawing one of the broadcast's largest audiences in years.
2017Created, wrote, and stars in the sci-fi series 'The Orville' on Fox, a passion project blending classic Star Trek-style drama with ensemble comedy.
2020Released the big-band vocal album 'Great Songs from Stage and Screen,' his third studio record and a follow-on to concert tours with the BBC Proms, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the LA and New York Philharmonic.
2021Released the 12-track duet album 'Songs from Home' with Liz Gillies, showcasing swing-era and classic Broadway material.
2022'The Orville: New Horizons' moved to Hulu for its third season, premiering to more than 14 million viewers and earning Emmy nominations.
2024'Ted,' the Peacock prequel series with MacFarlane voicing the title bear, became the No. 1 original comedy title among all streamers, generating 1.2 billion viewing minutes through its second season.
2026Peacock submitted 'Ted' across 19 Emmy categories with MacFarlane entered as executive producer, writer, director, and voice performer; Season 4 of 'The Orville' confirmed with scripts complete.
