Lake Street Dive originally formed in 2004 while the members were studying jazz at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. The band features lead vocalist Rachael Price, who possesses a rich, powerful voice reminiscent of classic jazz and soul singers. The group is completed by a talented lineup of multi-instrumentalists. The band spent years playing small clubs before achieving viral fame in 2012 with a simple, acoustic video of them performing a cover of the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” around a single microphone on a Boston street corner. The video showcased their incredible harmonies and musical chemistry, launching them into the national spotlight. Their musical style is a seamless blend of indie pop, classic soul, jazz, and folk rock, creating a timeless sound that appeals to a wide variety of music lovers. Lake Street Dive has since released several critically acclaimed, chart-topping albums, including Bad Self Portraits, Side Pony, and Obviously. They are widely celebrated for their joyful, high-energy live concerts and their creative musicianship, often swapping instruments on stage. They have performed on major late-night television shows, headlined prestigious venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and played at massive festivals worldwide. They continue to write catchy, genre-defying music that keeps fans dancing and singing along.
