Mark Chesnutt

BIOGRAPHy

Mark Chesnutt is one of Country’s true musical treasures. Critics have hailed him as a classic Country singer of the first order and some of Country music’s most elite entertainers, from George Jones to George Strait, echo the sentiment. Mark Chesnutt’s stature is easily gauged. He has 14 No. 1 hits, 23 top ten singles, four platinum albums and five gold records to his credit; he maintains a front-and-center presence with a hefty tour schedule year after year. Country music critics and fans alike need look no further when it comes to Country music basics. Remaining true to himself as a traditional country artist, while keeping the pace with the ever-changing country recording landscape, Mark Chesnutt has a knack for picking great songs, delivering them with world- class style and a heart-felt emotion that’s lived-in. With a trademarked voice, Chesnutt has set the bar for his generation and those that follow in his footsteps shaping the music of today’s country music newcomers and the new country music format. Now, some twenty-odd years later, Mark Chesnutt marches on to preserve and honor the splendid works of the sculpturing forefathers, George Jones and Waylon Jennings, to bring music from the honky tonks right back to where country music began.

Career Path

1990Debuted with 'Too Cold at Home' on MCA Nashville, putting a voice on country radio that George Jones and George Strait would publicly praise, a stamp of approval almost no debut artist earns.
1992'Bubba Shot the Jukebox' off 'Longnecks and Short Stories' topped the country charts, announcing his gift for honky-tonk storytelling with a wit that set him apart from hat-act contemporaries.
1994Stacked a seventh top-ten single in four years with 'She Dreams' from 'What a Way to Live,' part of the run that would eventually total 14 No. 1 hits and 23 top-ten singles.
1999Scored a crossover moment covering 'I Don't Want to Miss a Thing,' taking an Aerosmith arena anthem to country radio and charting it top five, proof his voice could carry any material.
2004'Savin' the Honky Tonk' planted a flag for traditional country at a moment when the format was chasing pop production, with four platinum and five gold albums already behind him.
2016'Tradition Lives' paid direct homage to the sounds of George Jones and Waylon Jennings, the sculptors of the country tradition Chesnutt has spent three decades preserving.
2023Faced a near-fatal health crisis that led to his sobriety, then in 2024 survived emergency quadruple bypass surgery, enduring back-to-back life-threatening events that ultimately ended a years-long battle with alcoholism.
2025Launched the nearly 40-date 'Redemption Tour' celebrating his sobriety and recovery, returning to the stage with a trademarked baritone and 14 No. 1 hits after the most difficult stretch of his personal life.
2026Continued the 'Redemption Tour' into a second year with dates in the US and Canada, including performances in Kansas City and Calgary, a full national schedule confirming his return as one of country's most compelling live acts.
