Featuring the anthemic songwriting of Ryan Tedder, OneRepublic rose to prominence in 2007, when “Apologize” began its reign as the most popular digital download in American history. The song quickly became a platinum-selling single in many countries, breaking airplay records in the UK and selling an unprecedented 4.3 million digital downloads in America alone. Later that year, OneRepublic came out with Dreaming Out Loud, a debut album filled with piano-fueled songwriting and pop/rock melodies. The album quickly went gold. Another Tedder-penned track, Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love,” experienced similar success at the same time, thus making Tedder one of the year’s most celebrated songwriters. OneRepublic’s second album was completed in September 2009. “All the Right Moves,” the album’s lead single, was released that same month, while the entire album followed in November, producing more successful singles, “Secrets,” “Marchin On” and “Good Life,” the latter reaching the top ten of the US Billboard Hot 100. OneRepublic’s third album, Native, became the band’s first top ten album on the Billboard 200 and highest charting album to date, charting at number four. The lead single, “If I Lose Myself,” charted within the top ten in several countries, while the album’s third single, “Counting Stars,” became the band’s most successful single in recent years, obtaining top five placements in Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, the US and the UK. It has also peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100. OneRepublic continues to tour the world.
