BIOGRAPHy

American country music band Parmale consists of brothers Matt Thomas (lead vocals, guitar) and Scott Thomas (drums), along with their cousin Barry Knox (bass) and Josh McSwain (guitar), who is a best friend since childhood. In 2006, they went to Los Angeles to begin recording with producer Stevo Bruno. They split their time between touring the East Coast and recording in California. They then travelled to Nashville to write, produce, and mix the remainder of the record. Parmalee released the EP Complicated in 2008. In June 2012, the band was featured as a Billboard “Bubbling Under” artist. Around this time, a live performance video for the band debuted on AOL’s TheBoot.com. Their second Stoney Creek single, “Carolina,” was released to country radio in February 2013. It reached Number One on the Country Airplay chart in December 2013. Their next album’s lead single, “Roots,” was released in May 2016. They released the album 27861 in 2017. Parmale continues to tour the country. 

 

Career Path

2006Traveled to Los Angeles to begin recording with producer Stevo Bruno, brothers Matt and Scott Thomas joined by cousin Barry Knox and childhood friend Josh McSwain as the band's permanent four-piece lineup.
2008Released the EP 'Complicated', capping a period of split-coast hustle between East Coast touring and California studio sessions.
2012Featured as a Billboard 'Bubbling Under' artist and debuted a live performance video for 'Musta Had a Good Time' on AOL's TheBoot.com, building national radio momentum.
2013'Carolina' reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, the band's debut chart-topper and the title track of their album 'Feels Like Carolina'.
2016Returned to country radio with 'Roots', the lead single launching the next album cycle and extending the band's Stoney Creek Records partnership.
2017Released the album '27861', named after the North Carolina ZIP code of their hometown, a statement of roots at the heart of their country identity.
2021'Just the Way' featuring Blanco Brown topped the Billboard Country Airplay chart, Parmalee's first No. 1 in eight years and Brown's first country chart-topper.
2021'Take My Name' spent two weeks at No. 1 on Billboard Country Airplay and finished as the top country song of 2022, making Parmalee the most-played group/band on Country Radio in 2023.
2024'Gonna Love You' became Parmalee's fifth No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, their fourth consecutive chart-topper.
2025Released their eighth studio album 'Fell in Love With a Cowgirl' and saw the lead single 'Cowgirl', co-written by all four members, ride to No. 1 on Billboard Country Airplay, tying Lady A for the third-most No. 1s by a group since 2012.
