Formed in 1997 in a Chicago suburb, the Plain White T’s are an American pop-rock quintet renowned for their catchy, acoustic-driven melodies and pop-punk energy. The band consists of frontman Tom Higgenson, guitarists Tim Lopez and Dave Tirio, bassist Mike Retondo, and drummer De’Mar Hamilton. They gained global prominence with their 2006 album Every Second Counts. Its breakout single, the quadruple-platinum acoustic ballad “Hey There Delilah,” topped the Billboard Hot 100. The song earned them two 2008 Grammy Award nominations for Song of the Year and Best Pop Performance. Over their nearly three-decade career, the group has released multiple studio albums—including All That We Needed (2005) and their self-titled ninth album in 2023—and amassed over 2.7 billion global streams. Beyond “Hey There Delilah,” they have cemented their pop culture presence with enduring hits like the platinum “Rhythm of Love” and “1, 2, 3, 4”. They remain an active touring force and recently returned to their longtime label, Fearless Records.
