Far East Movement is an American electro hop quartet based in Los Angeles. The group formed in 2003 and consists of Kev Nish (Kevin Nishimura), Prohgress (James Roh), J-Splif (Jae Choung), and DJ Virman (Virman Coquia). In 2005, Far East Movement released a mix tape called “Audio-Bio,” which contained many of their earliest songs and many songs not available anywhere else. Their first album, “Folk Music,” was released in early 2006. The single “Round Round” was featured in the 2006 film, “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift,” appearing both on the self-titled soundtrack “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” and video game. Their second LP, “Animal,” was released in 2008 and featured the singles, “You’ve Got A Friend,” “Lowridin” and the successful “Girls On The Dance Floor,” which reached #27 on the Billboard Latin Rhythm Airplay chart and marked their debut on the Billboard charts. In February 2010, Far East Movement signed a major record deal with Cherrytree Records, a subsidiary of Interscope Records. Their major label debut, “Free Wired,” was released in 2010. Guests on the album included, Keri Hilson, Lil Jon, Snoop Dogg, Mohombi, Colette Carr, Natalia Kills, Koda Kumi and Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic. Their single featuring The Cataracs and Dev, titled “Like a G6,” peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. The album debuted at #24 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart and a second single, “Rocketeer” reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. They released "Dirty Bass" in 2012. Far East Movement continues to perform all over the world.
