Demi Lovato
Born in Dallas, Texas, in 1992, vocalist-cum-actress Demi Lovato launched her career well before the age of ten as a participant in various beauty pageants and at assorted casting calls. She landed her first major on-camera assignment as one of the participants on the famous children's series, Barney & Friends, then moved to the hallowed halls of preteen stardom -- The Disney Channel -- as a participant in the "micro-series" sitcom, As the Bell Rings, designed to run in between longer programs. Lovato then jump-started her music career as a teen pop vocalist with extensive cross-country tours and record deals but achieved broadest stardom for her lead role opposite the Jonas Brothers in The Disney Channel telemovie Camp Rock. She showed up in the Jonas Brothers 3D concert movie in 2009 and was the star of her own series, Sonny With a Chance, until that show's abrupt cancellation. In 2010, she returned to The Disney Channel for the sequel to Camp Rock. Demi released her second studio album, Here We Go Again, and then in 2011, she released Unbroken. The single "Skyscraper" became her first single to be certified platinum. The second single, "Give Your Heart a Break," was later certified double-platinum. Lovato served as a judge and mentor on the American version of The X Factor from 2012 to 2013. She released her fourth album, Demi, in May 2013 to critical success, selling 110,000 copies within its first week. The album was preceded by its lead single, "Heart Attack," that February and was certified double-platinum. In 2015, Demi released Confident. Demi Lovato continues to tour and amaze audiences with her ample talents.
