BIOGRAPHy

Former Chicago truck driver and dock worker started his standup career in The windy City back in 1988. After winning some local comedy competitons Rocky went on to win The Johnnie Walker National Comedy Competiton beating out over 1100 contestants in 10 cities! Rocky has filmed his own Comedy Central Presents Special and in a nationwide poll was voted Comedy Central’s second most popular comedian. He has performed on NBC’s Tonight Show and had appearances on A&E’s Evening At The Improv and VH-1’s Stand-Up Spotlight and sitcom appearances on Cheers and his own NBC pilot called the Rocky LaPorte Show. Rocky’s clean, blue-collar style of comedy continues to increase in popularity as he travels the country. Rocky has opened for the likes of Louie Anderson, Garry Shandling, Drew Carey, Tim Allen, Hootie and the Blowfish and the Righteous Brothers just to name a few. At the Las Vegas Comedy Festival Rocky received the “Best Male Club Comedian of the Year Award” as well. Rocky has also traveled with Drew Carey to Iraq to entertain the troops and was seen on the Showtime special “Patriot Act: A Jeffrey Ross Home Movie.” Currently, Rocky is a finalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” Don’t miss the chance to book this great act!

Career Path

1988Traded a career as a Chicago truck driver and dock worker for the stand-up stage, beginning his comedy career in the Windy City's club circuit.
1990Won the Johnnie Walker National Comedy Search, defeating over 1,600 contestants across ten cities to claim the title and launch himself as a national headlining act.
1995Received the Best Male Club Comedian of the Year Award at the Las Vegas Comedy Festival, cementing his standing on the blue-collar comedy circuit.
2000Filmed a CBS sitcom pilot, 'The Rocky LaPorte Show,' bringing his working-class Chicago persona to a potential network audience.
2003Traveled to Iraq with Drew Carey and fellow comedians to entertain U.S. troops, with the trip documented in the Showtime special 'Patriot Act: A Jeffrey Ross Home Movie.'
2005Shot his own Comedy Central Presents special and was voted the network's second most popular comedian in a nationwide viewer poll, the highest recognition in cable stand-up at the time.
2014Finished in the top five on Season 8 of NBC's 'Last Comic Standing,' earning national television exposure and a new generation of fans for his clean, blue-collar style.
2019Released the stand-up special 'Has Been,' adding a full-length self-produced recording to a catalog that spans Comedy Central and Showtime.
2024Headlined Comedy Works South in Denver, one of 21 confirmed live engagements that year, sustaining a road schedule built on over three decades of club and theater headlining.
2026Continues to headline comedy clubs and performing arts centers across the U.S., including the Chicago Improv in Schaumburg, with 21 upcoming dates tracked across major ticketing platforms.
