Stephen Lynch is really a twisted songwriter who composes and sings dark ballads about temptations of a Catholic priest, dead girlfriends and gerbils. Lynch’s comedy routine consists of perversely hilarious songs – not the stuff of everyday conversations. With the lull of soulful melodies and honeyed vocals, Lynch packages these controversial ballads into the context of a pretty little song. He gained great national exposure with his “Comedy Central Presents” special in 2000, one of the highest rated in the network’s history. As a result of the duality of his act, Lynch turned heads in the music industry as well as on the comedy circuit. He attracted extra attention usually not available to comics by playing venues more often suited to music than to comedy. His debut album, “A Little Bit Special,” was released in 2000 and it reached #13 on the Billboard Comedy Albums chart. A live album, “Superhero,” followed in 2003. It was recorded at four different comedy clubs in New York and New Jersey in the spring of 2002. A second live album, “The Craig Machine,” was issued in 2005. It debuted at #2 on the Billboard Comedy Albums chart. Lynch starred in his second “Comedy Central Presents” special in January 2008. Lynch’s third album, “3 Balloons,” was released in 2009. The album became his second consecutive #2 hit on the Billboard Comedy Albums chart.
