BIOGRAPHy

Steve Winwood is an award-winning English musician and songwriter whose genres include blue-eyed soul, R&B, rock, blues-rock, pop-rock, and jazz. A multi-instrumentalist, he plays the electric organ, synthesizers, bass, drums, guitar, mandolin, violin and other strings. A star performer for nearly 50 years, he has also done notable work as a producer. In addition to his solo career, Winwood was a key member of The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith and Go. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Traffic in 2004. In 2005, Winwood was honored as a BMI Icon at the annual BMI London Awards for his “enduring influence on generations of music makers.” In 2008, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Winwood #33 in its 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. Winwood has won 2 Grammy Awards. In 2009, Winwood released Live from Madison Square Garden (with Eric Clapton). He continues to tour the world.

Career Path

1966Co-wrote and sang lead on the Spencer Davis Group's 'Gimme Some Lovin'' and 'I'm a Man,' both cracking the Top 10 in the US and UK before Winwood was 18 years old.
1969Formed the supergroup Blind Faith with Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Ric Grech; their self-titled debut reached number one in both the UK and US and introduced the enduring 'Can't Find My Way Home.'
1971Co-wrote Traffic's 'The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys,' which became one of the defining songs of blues-rock and helped cement Traffic's legacy as one of rock's premier acts.
1986Released 'Back in the High Life,' with the single 'Higher Love' hitting number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and winning Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
1988'Roll with It' debuted at number one, making Winwood one of only a few British artists to score back-to-back US chart-toppers across two studio albums.
2004Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Traffic, recognizing the band's foundational influence on progressive rock and British blues.
2005Named a BMI Icon at the annual BMI London Awards for his enduring influence on generations of music makers, with honorees citing his songwriting across the Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith, and his solo catalog.
2009Released 'Live from Madison Square Garden' with Eric Clapton, documenting their historic 2008 reunion concerts at the venue.
2024Joined the Doobie Brothers' 50th Anniversary Tour as special guest, performing at Madison Square Garden and other major US venues in what marked his most prominent live run in years.
2025Launched his first headlining North American solo tour since 2018, performing nine East Coast dates including two nights alongside the Tedeschi Trucks Band.
