Styx

Legendary American rock band Styx rose to fame became famous for its albums from the late 1970s and early 1980s. The Chicago band is known for melding the style of prog-rock with the power of hard rock guitar, strong ballads, and elements of American musical theater. The band is best known for the hit songs: “Lady” (#6, 1975), “Come Sail Away” (#8, 1977), “Babe” (#1, 1979), “The Best of Times” (#3, 1981), “Too Much Time on My Hands” (#9, 1981) and “Mr. Roboto” (#3, 1983). Other hits include “Show Me the Way” (#3, 1990), “Don’t Let It End” (#6, 1983), and “Renegade” (#16, 1978). The band had four consecutive albums certified multi-platinum by the RIAA. Styx continues to perform their hits all over the world.

Career Path

1975'Lady' peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1975, breaking the Chicago rock band into mainstream American radio and establishing Styx as a nationally charting act for the first time.
1977'Come Sail Away' from 'The Grand Illusion' climbed to number eight on the Billboard Hot 100, anchoring the first of four consecutive multi-platinum RIAA-certified albums.
1979'Babe' from 'Cornerstone' hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100, giving the band their only chart-topper and signature power ballad.
1981'The Best of Times' and 'Too Much Time on My Hands' from 'Paradise Theatre' landed in the top ten, making the album Styx's commercial peak and earning a platinum certification from the RIAA.
1983Concept album 'Kilroy Was Here' launched the theatrical single 'Mr. Roboto' to number three on the Billboard Hot 100, cementing Styx's place as arena rock innovators.
2017Issued 'The Mission', the band's first studio album of original material since 2003's 'Cyclorama', a sci-fi concept record about a crewed Mars voyage that earned four out of five stars from AllMusic and debuted at number 45 on the Billboard 200.
2021Dropped 'Crash of the Crown', their 17th studio album, alongside a summer tour with 38 Special and Collective Soul, demonstrating sustained studio vitality across five decades.
2024Co-headlined the 'Renegades and Juke Box Heroes' North American tour with Foreigner and special guest John Waite, running from June 11 in Grand Rapids, Michigan through August 28 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
2025Performed 'The Grand Illusion' in its entirety for the first time in the band's career during a sold-out January residency at The Venetian Theatre in Las Vegas, then released their 18th studio album 'Circling From Above' via Universal Music Enterprises on July 18.
2026Launched 'The Windy Cities Tour' with Chicago, their first-ever co-headlining run together, opening July 13 in West Palm Beach, Florida and wrapping September 6 in Los Angeles, California.
