Formed in Denver, Colorado in 2002, The Fray entered a brand-new creative era in 2026. The multi-Platinum, four-time GRAMMY-nominated alternative rock band originally achieved global stardom with their 2005 5X Platinum debut How to Save a Life—propelled by iconic, piano-driven hits like “Over My Head (Cable Car)” and the Diamond-certified title track. Following successive chart-topping albums including their 2009 self-titled record and 2014’s Helios, original lead vocalist Isaac Slade departed the group in 2022.Rather than recruiting a replacement, the remaining core trio of Joe King (lead vocals, guitar), Dave Welsh (guitar), and Ben Wysocki (drums) forged ahead. King seamlessly stepped into the frontman spotlight, a transition initially previewed on their 2024 comeback EP The Fray Is Back. On March 13, 2026, the band reached a milestone by releasing A Light That Waits, their first full-length studio album in 12 years. Characterized by emotional clarity and cinematic songwriting, the 11-track record features singles like “Ice Cold Lakes” and “Songs I’d Rather Not Sing”, representing the first time the three members co-wrote every track from scratch. The Fray celebrated this new chapter on the road, embarking on their extensive “Summer of Light” tour across North America alongside Dashboard Confessional, followed by an autumn tour across Europe and the UK. Blending their signature, soul-searching nostalgia with an inventive new energy, The Fray continues to deliver intimate, arena-sized anthems to a devoted global fanbase.
