Once called a cross between The Office and the funniest YouTube parody video you ever saw, The Water Coolers is a singing comedy act that uses top NY talent to answer the question “does this stuff happen to anyone else?” Conceived and created by Tom and Sally Allen to combine their skills, The Water Coolers made their New York club debut in 2000 and followed that two years later with a smash engagement Off-Broadway, produced by one of the producers of HAIRSPRAY, SPAMALOT, and THE PRODUCERS. The Water Coolers received two Spotlight Awards for Entertainment of the Year, making them one of only 3 acts to be awarded this honor twice. In addition to a packed special events schedule, they have toured their constantly updated act at performing arts centers around the U.S. and spots as far reaching as Singapore. We make people laugh about work and luckily, the ever-evolving world of work is a steady source of comedy.  

Career Path

2000Tom and Sally Allen launched The Water Coolers with a New York club debut combining Allen's theater background (including co-creator of 'Tony N' Tina's Wedding') with corporate consulting experience to answer a gap in the events market.
2002Produced a smash Off-Broadway engagement backed by one of the producers of 'Hairspray,' 'Spamalot,' and 'The Producers,' giving the act a legitimate theater credential that distinguished it from the corporate-entertainment field.
2009Won the Spotlight Award for Ensemble Entertainers of the Year, one of only three acts ever to receive the honor more than once.
2012Won their second Spotlight Award for Entertainment of the Year, cementing their status as the dominant comedy act at HR, sales, and corporate conventions across the U.S.
2015Toured performing arts centers and international engagements as far as Singapore, carrying their office-culture material to global corporate audiences including IBM, Microsoft, and AT&T.
2020Pivoted the act to create 'Zoomical', a full show about working from home, capturing the specific absurdity of pandemic remote work culture while their in-person events pipeline was closed.
2022Resumed live corporate touring with a regularly updated set, drawing on an ever-expanding catalog of original songs that reflect the post-pandemic workplace, hybrid schedules, quiet quitting, endless Zoom fatigue.
2024Maintained an active special-events schedule and performing-arts-center touring circuit, offering full audience customization including client slogans, inside jokes, and industry-specific parodies that no generic act can replicate.
2025Continued building virtual and hybrid-event offerings alongside live performances, sustaining the niche they established as the only satirical musical act purpose-built for the meetings and events industry.
