Tom Papa

With more than 30 years as a stand-up, Tom Papa is one of the top comedic voices in the country, finding success as an actor, host, and author, in film, TV, radio and podcasts as well as on the live stage. The comedian has recorded some the highest rated stand-up specials on Netflix including Tom Papa: Home Free, Tom Papa: You’re Doing Great! and Tom Papa: What A Day! which was taped at the iconic Wilbur Theatre in Boston. His other critically acclaimed specials include Human Mule, Freaked Out and Tom Papa Live in New York City, two of which were directed by Rob Zombie. Tom recently released his highly anticipated third book, We’re All In This Together…..So Make Some Room.  In 2020, Tom released his second book, You’re Doing Great! – And Other Reasons To Stay Alive, which was the follow-up to Your Dad Stole My Rake: And Other Family Dilemmas. Tom also hosts the popular daily Netflix radio show, What A Joke With Papa And Fortune on Sirius XM.  Tom has appeared in many fan-favorite films including Air alongside Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Viola Davis and Jason Bateman, Paper Spiders, The Informant opposite Matt Damon and Analyze That opposite Robert DeNiro. He can also be seen alongside Michael Douglas and Matt Damon in the HBO film, Behind the Candelabra, which was directed by Steven Soderbergh and won 11 Emmys.  On TV, Tom hosted the NBC series, The Marriage Ref, which ran for two seasons and had a recurring role opposite Julia Louis-Dreyfus on the CBS series, The New Adventures of Old Christine.

Career Path

2002Played opposite Robert De Niro in 'Analyze That,' his early studio film credit that foreshadowed a career threading stand-up success with recurring big-screen appearances.
2009Appeared opposite Matt Damon in Steven Soderbergh's 'The Informant!,' then co-starred alongside Michael Douglas and Matt Damon in Soderbergh's Emmy-winning HBO film 'Behind the Candelabra,' which took home 11 Emmys.
2010Hosted the NBC series 'The Marriage Ref,' which ran for two seasons and put Papa's comedic sensibility in front of a prime-time network audience.
2016'Human Mule' aired as his fourth stand-up special, one of two specials Papa produced with director Rob Zombie, cementing his reputation for polished one-hour storytelling.
2020Released the Netflix special 'You're Doing Great!' and the companion essay collection 'You're Doing Great!: And Other Reasons to Stay Alive,' turning his observational voice into a dual comedy-publishing moment.
2022Filmed the Netflix special 'What A Day!' at the iconic Wilbur Theatre in Boston, adding another entry to what became one of the highest-rated stand-up catalogs on the platform.
2023Starred alongside Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Viola Davis, and Jason Bateman in the Nike drama 'Air,' and released his third book 'We're All In This Together…So Make Some Room.'
2024Released the Netflix special 'Home Free,' filmed at the Warner Theatre in Washington D.C., which debuted in Netflix's Top 10 TV list its premiere week.
2025Launched the 'Grateful Bread Tour', named for his well-known passion for sourdough baking, performing at major theaters including The Beacon Theatre in New York and The Chicago Theatre, with Paramount Theatre dates taped for a forthcoming Netflix special.
